Greener Codorus Initiative
Greener Codorus Initiative
April 19, 2021 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Foundry Park on the Codorus 226 w Philadelphia Street York Pa 17401
Join the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association for weekly vegetation maintenance to keep harmful chemicals like herbicides from being sprayed along the Codorus Creek in York City
Our 2021 season is upon us! Come out and chop some vegetation along the Codorus Creek. Everyone is talking about beautifying the Codorus Creek, right? Well we have been beautifying the creek for over 20 years and for the last 6 years we've been stopping harmful herbicides from being sprayed killing everything it touches. Did you ever notice that the banks along the Creek are now GREEN? Well that's because of our work. Come out and support a great cause, you'll even get a decent workout and watch wildlife like ducks and turtles eat the vegetation you just chopped. It is very rewarding to be a part of this great work.
We do this work to stop chemicals like herbicides from being sprayed along the creek. We have all tools and safety equipment. Please wear long pants, shoes with good ankle support and bring your own water bottle. Meet at Foundry Plaza/Codorus Boat Basin. Our season is from April through November. The schedule for the foreseeable future is the 1st & 3rd Monday 9:00-11:00AM and 2nd & 4th Wednesday 5:30-7:30PM. SEE POSTED DATES AND JOIN US! Evening times will change later in the season due to daylight. See you out there!
Please do not come out if it's wet or raining, we cannot do this work in wet conditions. Schedule is subject to change. Make up days due to weather or other events will be posted as necessary. ALL VOLUNTEER HOURS COUNT TOWARDS ANY REQUIRED COMMUNITY SERVICE OBLIGATIONS. We'll even write letters for you, if needed! Please share!
