Chickies Rock County Park
Park with trails and scenic views
Get back to nature at this 422-acre natural wonder, rich in history and intriguing geological formations. “Named for Native American word, “Chiquesalunga,” meaning “place of the crayfish,” Chickies Rock features hiking trails and a breathtaking view off a quartzite rock cliff that towers 200 feet above the Susquehanna River. Remnants of iron furnaces and rolling mills, a canal and a local trolley line are still visible throughout the park.
The park also features day-use areas, a group pavilion, and convenient access to Chiques and Donegal creeks. The park is part of the Lancaster County Park System and also includes a boat-launch point, #14 Marietta Access, on the Susquehanna River Water Trail Map.
