Conejohela Flats to the Zimmerman Center for Heritage

Explore the Conejohela mud flats, then, cross Lake Clarke – 1.6 miles of flat,open water – to the Zimmerman Center for Heritage in the Long Level area of Wrightsville. Stop into the Zimmerman Center for a look at the Visions of the Susquehanna River Art Collection and a tour of the historic home!
Important birding area
The Conejohela Flats are a combination of small brushy islands and adjacent mud flats on the Susquehanna River. The Conejohela Flats Important Bird Area is recognized by the National Audubon Society and is one of the most significant inland stopover sites in the eastern United States for tens of thousands of shorebirds. The flats are part of the Atlantic Flyway.
