Steinman Run Preserve

Lancaster County Conservancy Nature Preserve and hiking trail

The 285-acre preserve is divided by an unpaved and gated section of Clearview Road.  Nice views and scenic limestone outcroppings exist along the stream. The hilly terrain is underlain by schist. Soil type is dry, acidic, and crystalline with minimal nutrients. The badly eroded wide trail shows the glistening orange soil.

Steinman Run flows north to Trout Run to Pequea Creek, to the Susquehanna River, and Chesapeake Bay. Hike at your own risk.

The preserve is managed by the Lancaster County Conservancy.  Visit the Conservancy website at www.lancasterconservancy.org to learn more about hiking, hunting, and parking conditions and any restrictions.
