House Rock Overlook

Lancaster County Conservancy Nature Preserve and hiking trail

House Rock Nature Preserve is comprised of 95 acres of cropland and woodland along the eastern slopes of the Susquehanna River. The woodland includes a mixture of healthy, mature dry oak, maple, tulip and beech trees.  Two beautiful river hills streams, tiny Brubaker Run, and the larger Reed Run, flow through the woods of the preserve with many small waterfalls as the streams descend to the Susquehanna River.

There is an experimental American chestnut planting in partnership with the American Chestnut Foundation. This trail and preserve pays tribute to the late, Ralph H. Goodno, a past CEO of the Conservancy, who contributed to preserving natural lands within this region.

Hike at your own risk. The preserve is managed by the Lancaster County Conservancy.  Visit the Conservancy website at www.lancasterconservancy.org to learn more about hiking, hunting, and parking conditions and any restrictions.
