Zimmerman Center for Heritage

Visitor Station for the John Smith Trail

The Zimmerman Center for Heritage is part of the 53-mile Susquehanna River Water Trail-Lower Section, which is managed by Susquehanna National Heritage Area.  Visit the Zimmerman Center for Heritage at Long Level to enjoy a hike, launch your paddlecraft, see the river art collection and learn about Susquehanna River History.

The Zimmerman Center for Heritage is an official Visitor Contact and National Park Passport Station for the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail.

Explore the Susquehanna aboard the Chief Uncas! Built in 1912 for beer magnate Adolphus Busch, this electric-powered launch cruised Otsego Lake, the headwaters of the Susquehanna, for over a century. Today she cruises the Susquehanna 400 miles downstream as the flagship for SNHA’s River Discovery Tours!

Let SNHA staff guide you on a tour of the river, sharing its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Experience the joy of being on the water, hear stories of the river, and view unspoiled scenery and abundant wildlife aboard this elegant treasure from the past! Tours depart from the Zimmerman Center Memorial Day through mid-October. Visit www.susqnha.org/boat-tours to learn more!
